The College of Santa Fe has been in intense talks with New Mexico Highlands University and the University of New Mexico in order for one of those institutions to take over the College of Santa Fe. There have been many questions regarding the implications of a proposed takeover, including the immediate and long term future of CSF Athletics. Dr. Kirk recently addressed the immediate state of athletics at CSF in an email that was distributed to the college community.

It was less then a year ago that the College of Santa Fe hired Brett Parker to lead the new Prairie Dog men's soccer team and to think of how far the program has come is amazing to Parker. Early on the focus was purely recruiting and with the season starting in August, that didn't leave much time to put together an intercollegiate squad.

Fifteen seconds is not a long time for most, but for the College of Santa Fe Prairie Dog soccer team, it was a very long time. In their second to last game of the season they faced the University of the Southwest Mustangs. The Prairie Dogs saw their one goal lead evaporate late in regulation and then saw the game slip away with only fifteen seconds left in the second overtime. The 2-1 loss dropped CSF to 5-10 on the season.
